Transportation

St. Petersburg is the transportation hub in northwestern Russia, located at the crossroads of sea, river, and land routes, only a short trip away from Russia’s Western neighbors. In recent years, St Petersburg has been consistently winning World Travel Awards in various categories, including the World’s Leading Cultural City Destination and Europe’s Leading City Destination. Its modern, reliable, and well-developed transport network has certainly contributed to its popularity with tourists.

While most ICM participants will probably be taking a plane to St Petersburg, arriving by train, coach, ship, or even by car is also a good option.

Arriving by plane

The Pulkovo airport (LED) is only about 10 minutes away from the ICM venue. A recent large-scale upgrade earned it a number of international awards and recognitions.

Pulkovo is served by 70 airlines (including low-cost carriers) which fly to 164 destinations worldwide. Annually, Pulkovo welcomes around 13 million passengers. With its 110 passport desks, it can welcome the many guests of the city without the lines at the passport control.Special ICM welcome counters will be placed in the arrival hall of the airport. They will provide taxi vouchers, directions and information.

Arriving by train
A high speed train can take one from Moscow or Helsinki to St Petersburg in 4 hours. There are a total of 5 railway terminals in the city, connecting it to many more destinations in Russia and abroad.
Arriving by ship
St. Petersburg is a major seaport with many regular passenger routes. Its new passenger terminal—The Marine Facade—has seven berths with a total length of over 2000 meters. Ferries offer easy connections between St. Petersburg and Northern Europe. People come on business and leisure trips, as well as cruises.
Public transportation
St Petersburg has well-developed modern public transit. People get around the city by taking the subway, buses, trams, trolleys, boats, shared bicycles, and also taxis. Public transit will be free for all ICM participants. There will also be regular shuttle buses from the ICM venue to both the city center and the nearest subway station.
