Rules of Personal Data Processing for Participants of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM)

These rules of Personal Data Processing at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) (hereinafter referred to as the «Rules») define the terms and procedure for processing personal data belonging to individuals participating in the ICM

Filling out and submitting an online registration form at (hereinafter referred to as the «Form») automatically signifies the participant’s full and unconditional consent to the Rules.

By submitting the completed Form, the participant gives consent to the following companies to process their personal data obtained during registration for the ICM:

  • YANDEX Limited Liability Company (YANDEX, LLC), located at the following address: Russia, 119021, Moscow, Lev Tolstoy Street, 16
  • ExpoForum International Limited Liability Company, located at the following address: 196140, St. Petersburg, Shushary, Petersburg Shosse, 64, Bldg. 1, Let. A

The Personal data received via Form may also be transferred to the third parties meaning: persons and organizations involved in the ICM preparation, as well as assisted participants in organizing their engagement in the ICM, persons ensured the safety of the ICM, other persons and organizations participated in the ICM to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes specified in these Rules.

Please note that the level of personal data protection in the Russian Federation may differ from that required in the participant’s jurisdiction.

By submitting the Form, the participant consents to the transfer of their personal data to third parties involved in the ICM, such as:

  • Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation
  • Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation
  • Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation
  • Federal Guard Service of the Russian Federation
  • Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation
  • Executive Оrganizing Committee of the International Congress of Mathematicians 2022
  • Local Оrganizing Committee of the International Congress of Mathematicians 2022
  • International Mathematical Union

Participant’s personal data includes:

  • Surname, name, patronymic (if any)
  • Nationality
  • Passport information
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Place of work and position
  • Email address
  • Contact phone number
  • Other data obtained as part of registration and participation in the ICM

The personal data specified in the Rules are processed for the following non-commercial purposes:

  • To create, receive, and process applications for participation in the ICM and create an ICM participant account
  • To provide the opportunity to participate in the ICM
  • To communicate with participants on issues related to their participation in the ICM
  • To help with providing the opportunity to participate in the ICM
  • To ensure the safety of ICM participants
  • To send information and news to participants using the contact details provided in the Form
  • To conduct statistical and analytical surveys

The list of actions involving personal data consented to by participants includes collection, recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, correction (update, modification), extraction, usage, depersonalization, blocking, deletion, and destruction.

Participants consent to have their personal data stored and processed for non-commercial purposes for as long as is necessary to achieve the above stated purposes, as well as for three years after the above stated purposes have been achieved.

Participants may revoke their consent by sending a written notification via email to or via regular mail to the following addresses:

Personal data belonging to participants is processed in accordance with the legal requirements of the Russian Federation, in particular, Federal Law of July 27, 2006, No. 152-FZ on Personal Data.
